Vernon Wells hadn’t seen action in nearly two month after injuring his thumb.
The three time all-star has been working the past few weeks to get into ‘baseball’ shape, and spared no time admitting the whole truth.
“Sometimes I feel like I’m 23 again and then I finish doing what I’m doing and I remember how old I am,” said Wells. “Every day is a test just to see how I feel tomorrow.”
Wells was definitely on his game Saturday night, stealing a pair of bases through seven innings played.
“It was just to test myself was the biggest thing, and once you get out on the field you have to play the game,” adding that you take what you can get from your opponent. “You get opportunities to take advantage of situations and let your instincts just take over.”
The next obstacle will be for Wells to find his place on the Angels active roster, where a ‘Clash of the Titans’ is likely going to ensue given the current status of Halos manager Mike Scoscia’s blossoming lineup.
