06-23-2012 Bees vs. Aces Notes

Salt Lake (36-39) returns to Spring Mobile Ballpark after struggling to a 1-3 finish at Colorado Springs during this past week. Reno owns the third best record in the league at 45-30, including a nine game advantage in the Northern Division. Brad Mills will be on the mound to spark the Bees, who was activated from the Disabled List on Saturday morning. In six starts, Mills is 3-3 … Continue reading»

Deeds shares his role with Salt Lake

Doug Deeds summed it all up for me the other night when I asked him what he thought about a possible call-up to the Angels. “With a guy like me, you’ve just got to be a good teammate do what you can with the younger kids, and show good work ethic day in and day out and just be who you are.” The 31 year old finished by … Continue reading»

06-11-2012 Salt Lake vs. Tacoma Notes

Tonight the Bees have Drew Heid at the top of the lineup, where the former Orem Owl could be the difference in tonights game. Andrew Romine and Paul McAnulty follow up Heid atop the lineup, and should give Tacoma pitcher Jarrett Grube (0-2, 10.66) a warm welcome to Spring Mobile Ballpark. Romine and Cory Aldridge have struggled to just two hits in 23 at-bats combined, so a turn … Continue reading»

06-01-2012 Bees vs. Sky Sox Notes

Salt Lake can take the series against Colorado Springs tonight with a victory. It would be the Bees first series win since their road series at Iowa two weeks ago. With the addition of Hank Conger from the DL, the Bees were able to pick up a solid 7-1 victory coming just shy of the first shutout of the season. Conger had an RBI single in last nights … Continue reading»

McAnulty takes the Mound

Paul McAnulty just made things interesting. The slugger just took the mound for the first time in his career, and will face the top of the Colorado Springs lineup in the top of the ninth inning. McAnulty gave up just one hit, and forced the third double-play of the game for Salt Lake in his short-lived pitching debut.

No Love from Colorado

Salt Lake struggled to recover from an early deficit, even with home runs from Paul McAnulty and Cory Aldridge. Francisco Rodriguez got the Bees out of a bases loaded situation in the seventh inning, but the damage had already been done after the Sky Sox rallied for 13 unanswered runs. Rodriguez was manager Keith Johnson’s fifth pitcher on the mound, and credit Johnson for making the call after … Continue reading»

05-30-2012 Bees vs. Sky Sox Notes

Garrett Richards was set to be the starting pitcher for Salt Lake (26-27) in todays afternoon game, but got an unexpected recall to the Los Angeles Angels. Richards became the fourth Bee in nine days to make the move up to MLB. The Bees looked solid in the victory last night, and snapping their six game losing streak was a big relief to both the players and the … Continue reading»

05-29-2012 Salt Lake vs. Colorado Springs Notes

Salt Lake (25-27) are staring a seven game losing streak in the face, but are looking to turn things around tonight when they host the Colorado Springs (25-26) in the first game of the series. Sky Sox infielder Brandon Wood is in the starting lineup versus a Bees organization that hosted the Arizona native for the better part of six years from 2005-2010, and started in 333 games … Continue reading»

05/25/2012 Las Vegas vs. Salt Lake Notes

Tonight should be an interesting battle, seeing how the home team has lost a handful of starters to the Angels. Still, the Bees are 11-9 at home and just won five of the past six games on the road. Newcomer Cory Aldridge has made the most of his stint with the Bees, slugging a pair of home runs since being added to the triple-A roster on May 22nd. … Continue reading»

Bees IF Andrew Romine called-up by L.A. Angels

A busy week for the Bees, as Andrew Romine becomes the third Salt Laker to get the call-up from the Halos. Romine had a solid May for the Bees with a batting average of .289 accompanied by 17 RBIs and a pair of home runs. Adam Heether was added from the Arkansas Travelers, and will likely suit up Friday when Salt Lake returns from their series in Omaha. … Continue reading»
